For every child, a Hope

UNICEF is a strategic partner for Burkina Faso Government for the mobilisation of essential supplies for children. This includes the procurement of vaccines, cold chain and medical equipment's and kits; oxygen plants; diagnostic material, for an average of 30 mio USD per year through national funding or partnerships with donors or global alliance (GAVI; World Bank;). The response to the COVID-19 requires to further develop capacities and expand national supply chains to deliver immunization services and oxygen therapy in the most remote locations. The national programmes capacity to deliver supplies is impacted by the deterioration of the security context. Resilient national health supply chains must be established.

Under the direct supervision of the Supply and logistics Manager, and in close collaboration with programme teams (health, immunization and nutrition) the incumbent will support the Burkina Faso country programme activities towards the strengthening of the countries supply chains with a primary objective of optimizing the timely, equitable and continuous access to services and products

How can you make a difference?

  • Supporting Burkina Faso Country Offices to establish and develop the contact with relevant government counterparts, donors and partners in respect of Supply Chain Strengthening, financing, and promoting partnership activities for essential supplies for children.
  • Coordinate Procurement Service (PS) activities with the MoH (various directions and national programmes); Donors (GAVI, World Bank, ...) and Unicef Supply Division for the timely mobilization of essential supplies for children by the Government through Unicef (vaccines, medical and cold chain equipments, nutrition supplies).
  • Contributing through technical advice to the strengthening of the government supply chain system, including by supporting the integration of nutrition, immunization, humanitarian response and health commodities supply chain activity within the MOH structure

Requirements

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

Minimum requirements:

  • Education:An advanced university degree (Master's or higher) in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health or related social science field;
  • Work Experience:A minimum of eight (5) years of progressively growing and relevant experience, at the national and international levels, in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration and/or other directly related technical fields is required;
  • Language Requirements:Fluency in French is required (written and oral). Good working knowledge of English (written and oral) Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset;

Desirables:

  • Understanding of development and humanitarian work. Emergency experience an advantage. Health supply chain management experience an advantage.
