INTRODUCTION The Belgian Red Cross-Flanders (Rode Kruis-Vlaanderen, RKV) is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Adherence to the seven Fundamental Principles – Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality – is at the core of all our actions. In close collaboration with the local Red Cross Society in each country and its many volunteers, RKV, as a sister National Society, focuses on implementing projects related to first aid, blood donor recruitment and management, disaster preparedness, and emergency response, primarily in Africa.
